RPA Professor Highlighted in EKU Magazine
Dr. Brian Clark (RPA) and Dr. James Maples (Sociology) have brought national attention to the Red River Gorge and the world class rock climbing that can be found on the eastern Kentucky cliff faces. Their study has been published in the 2017 Journal of Applachian Studies and has been in numerous trade publications and newspapers.
The study discusses rock climbers economic impact, stating that rock climbers bring in an estimated $3.8 million a year into the six Red River Gorge counties. These counties are among some of the nations poorest and knowing that rock climbing can be an important revenue source is an important area to embrace.
