Bio
A 2001 Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Administration with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation and a Minor in Psychology. Graduate of Georgetown College with a Masters of Arts in Education LBD/MSD/Rank I certification. Received Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification in 2001 and Certified Adapted Sports & Recreation Specialist II in 2014. Received Archery Instruction II and Explore Bow hunting certifications in 2015. Oversee Lexington Parks and Recreation’s National Recreation & Park Association CAPRA Accreditation. Serve as the Therapeutic Recreation Manager Senior at Lexington Parks and Recreation providing community Recreation Therapy services through a variety of programs and camps to individuals with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities ages 4 through senior adult. Experience in the following areas: Adult Day Care, In-patient Psychiatric, Shriner’s Hospital, community recreation, building TR and Inclusion programs from the ground up, train staff and colleagues on disability awareness, inclusion and program modifications/adaptations, presented at various conferences and supervise interns and practicum students, coordinated large city events and activities for a population of 230,000, worked in a variety of programs and capacities overseeing Recreation Centers, Senior Adults, Special Events, and TR during 18 year career in Parks and Recreation.
